Little Kings Debonaire, 1988-1998Our ranch will forever be home to Debonaire, who helped in very large measure to make us what we are. With his sudden passing late in 1998, we are left with incredible heartbreak, but also the joy of seeing his spirit carry on with the fine foals he has produced. His National Grand Championships in both Halter (1991) and Pleasure Driving (1993) have never been equaled in AMHA history by one horse to this day. Making this achievement even more impressive is the fact he did it all by the age of 5 years, at two of the largest nationals in AMHA history. Debonaire lived for the show ring and shined his brightest in front of all his fans. His exceptional show ring brilliance was created by his attitude and presence, which always brought cheers from the crowd. Combining this with his special copper buckskin coloring, and his spirit, Debonaire was such an extraordinary delight to bring onto any show grounds. From the ungainly weanling we trailered cross-country in 1988, to the fantastic champion he became, it was an incredible ride! His personality, which coupled great curiosity and intelligence, seemed on a higher plane than most horses; we see many of these remarkable traits in his foals!
